Wired News: Citizen Journalism Wants You!

Wired News: Citizen Journalism Wants You!

Although lately all I’ve done here is post links I find and put a rather 2 cent opinion around the link I may have found something to fuel me to add more than my 2 cents I may go up to 4 cents someday, yes I dream big. This is a site that may give a bigger audience to write stories that effect us all. It’s a little wider than Wikipedia but not so wide as to miss the point of whatever subject it’s reporting on. If you think you have something to add check them out and pay attention when they publish something on the web.

To summarize:

Can large groups of widely scattered people, working together voluntarily on the net, report on something happening in their world right now, and by dividing the work wisely tell the story more completely, while hitting high standards in truth, accuracy and free expression?

…If there’s a piece of it you’re especially interested in — Assignment Zero interviews Jimmy Wales about the social architecture that makes Wikipedia work (a piece we will do — then you can work on it with others at our site, and maybe get the byline, even though everyone else gets (some) credit, too.

…I suggested to Evan a big, sprawling, pro-am, people-powered report on all the various forms of crowdsourcing and peer production now popping up across the social landscape, as the tools for online collaboration keep improving and people find new uses for the web.

…I wanted to cast a wide net, from well-publicized cases like Wikipedia, Linux software and the Mozilla browser, to less familiar examples like community patent review or open-source spying, newer ventures like open-source footware, or the crowdsourcing of consumer electronics, along with open-call T-shirt design and efficient collaboration among knitters, which is peer production, too.

NO QUARTER: FOX NEWS, Crazy Right Wing Propaganda

…As a former Fox News analyst I have some first hand experience of dealing with the beast and have the satisfcation of knowing that Rupert Murdoch had me removed from Fox air for daring to suggest that invading Iraq would be a diversion in the war on terrorism.

Death penalty map

Just a comment on what I found today. The map of were the death penalty is still practiced in our modern age. If you look you’ll see most of the world has realized that the death penalty is a senseless waste. The still the 3rd world that hasn’t got the idea yet, in time I’m sure they wil except for the US were murder is celebrated.

Forgot the link to the Map.

Just want too add more info to be fair that Japan has the death penalty also. Now I live in Japan, are they telling me something?

Approval of Bush policy on Iraq declines - Yahoo News

Approval of Bush policy on Iraq declines - Yahoo News  I hate to be a "told you so" kind of guy but … If you’ll look at this blog I’ve been critical of the Iraq mess the whole time. Time to get off my high horse and offer my support to an idea that I’ve heard. I can’t recall the person that this idea should be credited to but the idea as I remember it is to break apart Iraq into three pieces; one for the Sunnis, one for the Shiite, and one for the Kurds but I’ll go further and say they should stay together but as separate states in one nation of Iraq. They can be autonomous with a democratic central leadership. Not simple considering they want to kill each other but it sounds like a start.  But maybe Bush won’t like it because he didn’t think of it first.

I leave the US 7 years ago and this is the mess I find. It’s not just bush but you all share the resonsibility, for shame. You have a chance in November to fix what wrong. Fix please

YouTube - Keith Olbermann Response to Clinton Fox News Interview

I’ve seen too much Fox news, even 5 min is too much. I live in Tokyo, Japan and have for the last 6-7 years but I still pay attention to what is going on in the US. I saw a Fox attack of President Bill Clinton and saw the beating they got for it, hurray for the left. I just saw a political analyst on youTube that eloquently put into word of what I’m saying here. Please view this and take any power that Bush might have and put it in the hands that might do some good.

Flight to oblivion

I’ve read before that air travel is a major source of CO. I have an idea on the air travel. The source and destination of the flight share the estimated load of CO from a flight. Any Kyoto signee not received flights from a non-signee. This would men the US travel industry would become domestic only except the other straggler. Governments would share the burden of CO from aircraft and they might get in the game of making it cleaner.

A nation of immigrants turns away from it’s past

When part of your national soul is built by immigration, I think you kill that soul when you turn people away from your borders.

Freedom of the press, US version

Reported earlier the Australian courts allow a Melbourne businessman to sue a US based news organization for libel. This court ruling in the US stands as a direct opposite to that ruling, not opposite in the case in the Australian courts but the ideals represented in that case. I don’t want to say who is right or wrong, wait I will say it. The Australian courts are WRONG.
