Health Tips for Multiple Sclerosis on Squidoo

This is another page I’ve written,I have lots of free time when I’m not excersising my as* off.

I’m presently in a wheelchair and I’ve found out that it should’ve never been. I want to share a few tips with you so that you can avoid my predicament. It’s never too late to get back on my feet and these are a few things I’m doing besides lot of physical therapy.

National heath insurance NOW!

The Bellingham Herald

It’s embarrassing to explain to my Japanese friends on a lifetime of no health insurance. I live in Japan and I live with multiple sclerosis. I didn’t come to Japan to get insurance, I came cause I thought I was done with living and I wanted to live and see more of the world, I didn’t have hope of living a good life. I was completely wrong, again. Now I use a wheelchair but I have hope I can get myself out of it. The physical rehab is going great and that’s from the Japanese health national insurance. My wheelchair is from Japan national insurance. I plan on getting rid of the contact lenses and going back to glasses and Japan national insurance will help with that. If I had problems with my teeth (I don’t) Japan national insurance would help pay. The insurance is not expensive, it cheaper when everyone pays into it and it is so helpful to have. My mother is back in the U.S. and I’m so worried that she’s not getting the care she needs (I’m 41 years old so you do the math). I know the care available is perhaps the best there is but only if you can afford it. Senator Obama has thrown his support behind national insurance and I back him and support his race for the president. I said previously that I would support a republican president but I see the news and sometimes you may see truth in the reporting (never from fox) and I see the standards are falling fast someone is needed to stop the collapse and give back to the people.

Wellington Grey — Miscellanea — World obesity

Wellington Grey — Miscellanea — World obesity

I found an interesting site I had to share, I have previously stated that being overweight is not a bad thing but obesity is poor fr the health of the person in question and is a burden on their family, friends, and the whole community in general. If you find yourself in that group please take care and skip that pizza tonight and remember that McDonald’s is not a good replacement.

My video health blog

I’ve setup another blog that speaks to my health concerns. I have multiple sclerosis and I hope to speak to others with their own health issues that the medical community don’t have the answers to. Hearing back from them with text comments and by video comments would be a real plus. The blog is from what I learned about multiple sclerosis and what makes living easier but with others in the mix I would like to give everyone a voice. You can see the blog at www.vadot.com, please fee free to leave a comment. The blog I put together is a video blog and maybe the worst part is looking at my face.

Wired Science - Wired News

Wired Science - Wired News

This has everything with my premise I write on this blog, green means clean. We are slowly polluting ourselves to early death and the pollution isn’t localized to the polluters.

Pollution Environmental pollutants that mimic the effects of estrogen, the female hormone, may contribute to breast cancer, report researchers from the University of Pittsburgh.

The chemicals, which can come from factory waste, farm runoff, and pharmaceuticals and personal care products flushed down toilets, are becoming common in the nation’s waterways.

Overweight, obese, let’s call the whole thing off

I saw Penn and Teller’s TV Show Bullshit and it had an interesting view on things as it always does. The show spoke about overweight/obesity and the bullshits surrounding the terms. As someone that has always been annoyingly thin, it spoke to me, not really but since I’m always wary of what big business says is right for me. One idea that came to me is that being overweight or obese is not unhealthy in itself but the big business surrounding weight maybe a cause in trying to be thin as the media tries to make everyone feel like they’re fat. Maybe the root cause to be wary of if the fat laden foods that are so prevalent. I live in Japan and even here you’ll see an overweight person but the Japanese are less prone to the health problems you’ll find in the U.S.. The Japanese had health scares in the past due to weight loss schemes that caused people to die, those schemes came from China. But I believe in Chinese medicine, they had thousands of years of practice but greed is the cause of death everywhere. Japanese loved to smoke, you used to be able to light a cigarette in the bank, but cancer is less common here than in the west. The diet is different and maybe some of the foods need to be more common.

Pregnancy hormone key to repairing nerve cell damage

Pregnancy hormone key to repairing nerve cell damage
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “I have Multiple Sclerosis”. Nothing epic there but I read an article today, which I linked to, which demonstrated what was known but finally more thoroughly studied. The fact is that when women have MS (over half) get pregnant their MS goes into remission. The study was on an MS like condition introduced into mice. When they became pregnant the mice went into remission. They want to know if they can do the same thing in humans. I’ll go out in a limb by saying I’m willing to talk about it sailor ;-).
To summarize

In a paper to be published in the February 21 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience, a team of researchers from the U of C’s Faculty of Medicine reports that a study conducted on mice found that the hormone prolactin encourages the spontaneous production of myelin, the fatty substance that coats nerve cells and plays a critical role in transmitting messages in the central nervous system.

MS Video Blog

Maybe its time for me to fade off into the sunset but I have somethings to add. I mostly want to give the recently diagnosed a hope for tomorrow if stem-cells are only hype. My video performance is poor but honest, I’ve tried to just “wing it” but you can see the results. I’ll have to be more prepared so I can put something together more pleasing to the senses (I even stink to the nose). I will put my misadventure to remind myself to raise the bar.

I do recommend t any in the same boat, having an autoimmune condition, to watch your diet. It may the easiest way to fight.

Yahoo 360° - MS ADVOCATE FOR HEALTH AND FUNDING - Entry for February 08, 2007
As some you may know I live with multiple sclerosis, that used to be so had to say and harder to admit. I say it now with pride, not having this disease but having it and still able to smile, take a look at the About Me link at the top. I live in Japan and thankfully the insurance problems don’t affect me with the social insurance here. Recently I hit a bottom that woke me up, I needed to start doing for myself. I started the MS Video Blog and I decided that weekly is too much so every two weeks I’ll post something new and try to share what I’ve learned, I hope you do the same. I recently found a link (at least Google alerts told me) about a person with/had MS and she wants to share their experience with a new therapy/cure. Japan can be behind the cutting edge because they are typically so safe with medications. If this proves to be safe and effective I’m on a plane to Chicago (or anywhere that can prove they found it). I’ll continue to do my physical rehab but I will stay with any news tremich shares.
To summarize what tremich said in his first post

Hopefully, the new stem cells will build a new, healthy, immune system to replace diseased immune system that caused my MS. The transplant was part of an ongoing study at Northwest Memorial Hospital in Chicago — A study that I feel very fortunate to have been a part of.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

Remember, Remember the 5th of November. A strange way to start a blog post but I recently re-watched “V for Vendetta” and those words stuck in my mind for no apparent reason. It’s a great movie with a great story and well acted, one that won’t be forgotten. Later it occurred to me that this day bears the same significance as when Guy Faulks first thought of it (find out more here. I’m not advocating we blow up Parliament or any Government building but I’m asking you all to rise up against the medical drug company that do nothing except hold our health hostage. I don’t know where to start but let’s act together while we can. I have multiple sclerosis but I refuse to take any drugs, I tired betaseron and I wouldn’t wish that on my worse enemy. My diet that has changed my life. You can too but I will warn that if are alive because of drugs not to stop but investigate alternatives.
