Once a dream fuel, palm oil may be an eco-nightmare | CNET News.com

Once a dream fuel, palm oil may be an eco-nightmare | CNET News.com A serious problem i our quest for a clean fuel alternative. This affects Indonesia and the palm oil cultivated into bio-diesel is used mostly in Europe. The problem in grown the palm oil the local ecology is thrown out of wak bu the damage caused by growing the crop on a large commercial scale. I remember reading an article (forget where) about building a tall building and growing in the building. Seems to me a perfect fit, build the structure where is warm/hot, use automation to take care of the plants, harvest and convert into bio-diesel in the same structure. What goes in is compost for fertilizer and what comes is is liquid gold (or energy if you don’t like the analogy). I’m sure Bil Gates has a few billion dollars doing nothing.

Lawmakers hear of interference in global warming science - CNN.com

Lawmakers hear of interference in global warming science - CNN.com Why is there still doubt? I can understand exxon and these folks not wanting to believe, they have enough money to not worry about anything. Can’t we all just agree that cleaning up is a good thing? Have you seen the skyline around major cities lately? It’s easy to see the crap in the air. I have to say that Japan really jumped on the green wagon and you can see it (or not see it). The U.S. has WORST standards than China, than China! The U.S. can’t sell cars in China even if they want to the automobile fuel standards are so bad. The American people aren’t totally to blame, they are buying fuel efficient cars, mostly from Japan. Just help us please and park your cars going to the corner market.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

Remember, Remember the 5th of November. A strange way to start a blog post but I recently re-watched “V for Vendetta” and those words stuck in my mind for no apparent reason. It’s a great movie with a great story and well acted, one that won’t be forgotten. Later it occurred to me that this day bears the same significance as when Guy Faulks first thought of it (find out more here. I’m not advocating we blow up Parliament or any Government building but I’m asking you all to rise up against the medical drug company that do nothing except hold our health hostage. I don’t know where to start but let’s act together while we can. I have multiple sclerosis but I refuse to take any drugs, I tired betaseron and I wouldn’t wish that on my worse enemy. My diet that has changed my life. You can too but I will warn that if are alive because of drugs not to stop but investigate alternatives.

MS and Physical Rehab

As some may know I am a sufferer(?) of multiple sclerosis. I have the sufferer with a question mark as at present I don’t suffer but have manageable discomfort (sounds like marriage). This is old news but recently I made a significant change in my management scheme thanks to the help of the Japanese government (Tokyo specifically). I’ve had let my work contract expire to save myself from further attacks, they are what caused me to use a wheelchair to get around. The change and the assistance come in the form of physical rehab that comes with no significant cost for my out of work ass. This sounds like an opportunity to work on my Japanese which needs work. We got together on Saturday and went over some paperwork and I gave a show of my physical abilities. The show didn’t involve singing or dancing but hat my legs could do. The singing or dancing would have been better but only to those that truly admire art (and are deaf and blind). It is going to slow going but I feel it will eventually pay off, maybe we can start to talk about dance (singing will always be out of the question).

Getting in Shape while playing

I happened on this link from Digg and became interested. I am confined to a wheelchair from my Multiple Sclerosis. I have not let weight gain become a factor in my inactivity. I am inactive, overly so. I keep my weight in check with a careful diet, only delicious non-fatting food for me, sushi is my favorite. Anyway the link was interesting to me ’cause I’m a big kid and I don’t want to be inactive. The write up is about the Nintendo Wii and I think it may be the perfect way to be a kid and get me active without the pressure. While the $250 is not expensive it is a bit out of my reach being the out of work wheelchair bound contractor my life has become. Not looking for a handout but when I get my hands on a Wii I’ll let you all know..::{WiiNintendo.net}::.

Th Better than Uranium TreeHugger

I am not a nuclear physicist and I do not play one on TV (I can’t even spell it) but I see the worth in this idea. We have this hunger for energy, we don’t want too be killed by that hunger, why not try something not on the beaten path that cannot be weaponized (I think). Our ideas as a species have something to be desired so we should promote other ideas. I don’t claim to have the “Ideas” but I do recognize a better path. Read the article and talk to someone and they might talk to someone and … Th Better than Uranium TreeHugger

Blog29586: Comparing VoIP Providers For Small Business Solutions

As any regular reader of this blog might able to tell (I know you’re out there) my family drives me crazy. I suspect that all families of bright intelligent people may have this in common. Not to say that I’m one of those bright intelligent people but I love my family and their pecuralities. I live in Japan and they’re in the U.S. so I stay in touch with them by my occasional visits and by phone (which I think describes many families). Not to go broke, with my lame out of work ass, I use Skype which suits me great. I can’t speak for them but the sound quality has gotten better with the internet getting affordable at higher speeds and the VOIP services getting much better at their jobs. I’m happy with Skype and have recommended to friends to use the same. This blog has gotten some hits in the recent past and I would like to recommend to them to use Skype. Something else I bought recently was the Belkin Wi-Fi Skype Phone which sounds great (one caveat is that my internet speed is unheard in the U.S. at 100 Mbits per second). I found this blog that talks about the pros and cons and rates the various servers without the obvious leanings I’ve demonstrated here. That’s my two cents about this whole internet tubes thing. $50 BILLION DOLLARS. Someone should get the bushes to pick up the tab. Of course there is no cost for the number of Iraq and U.S. personnel that have lost their lives but maybe we can get them to work it off in menial tasks related industries that can do no more harm. CNN.com Video
