The lazy blogger strikes again

I’m becoming a very lazy blogger. I’ve got issues with my eyes (sounds like a cop out). I do read the net when I can and I read a blog entry that I want to share with you. A well written rebuke to the asshole rush (ditto heads BEGONE!), read and emphasize: http://mukundar.blogspot.com/2006/10/michael-j-fox-versus-rush-limbaugh.html

Wired News: Saving Democracy With Web 2.0

Democracy shouldn’t need saving but the U.S., the old man of democracy, has not been respectful of the rights that democracy offers. I am an American living in Tokyo, Japan and I made sure that my vote was heard. But in the electoral college system no single vote is heard. I voted in a state were bush wasn’t a close second but that didn’t matter just as in 2000. I digress, here’s an article on remedial democracy for those who want to be spoon fed information but I’m not talking to that audience now. It seems to me that someone who reads blogs wants information. I’m getting completely off track but this topic gets to me. It’s embarrassing around election time to explain to my Japanese friends what is meant by American democracy but watch as it becomes a joke as 50% vote. This time make a difference get involved and vote in November I already sent mine in.Wired News: Saving Democracy With Web 2.0

Excuse to Breathe

This article from Wired, Wired News: Power Execs: Carbon Emission Caps, sounds like the excuse list that the US power producers have been preaching for awhile. I remember that the system in Europe is based on the Kyoto protocol which ex-vice president Al Gore worked on. The U.S. were on the ground floor of the Global Warming reductions and the Supreme Court took the initiative to tell all Americans what they needed.

I leave the US 7 years ago and this is the mess I find. It’s not just bush but you all share the resonsibility, for shame. You have a chance in November to fix what wrong. Fix please

It’s time to clean up

Ever since seeing the Al Gore documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” about a possible future for everyone on this planet, I’ve had this thinking for my wife and my desire to have children. I’ve had a nightmarish vision of our future, yours and mine.

I think that I have the answer, I know as long as the U.S. doesn’t benefit in the short term it won’t happen but it might. My idea is using a recent invention described in this article (Wired News: Making Water From Thin Air) if it gets produced in mass quantities and used in Africa to provide potable water to the populace and to provide water to specially bred plants that maximize pollution absorption in the air.

It may:

  • Add water to an area that we are depleting of water with our actions
  • Grow pollution absorbing vegetation
  • Change weather patterns for the better
  • There is a lot of work to do but this is already available. Just convince the U.S. military to release a technology that may help the “enemy” (ha)

I will not be part of the problem but will add ideas that may help

    A Special Comment About Lying

In my point of reference I feel like an outsider looking at the mess the US has become. I luckily left before Bush took office and what I hear from Bush’s mouth is the manic ramblings of the paranoid. I don’t work for a political power but I beseech you all to vote in the upcoming election for leaders that want justice for all and not for leaders that got the US into this mess in the first place. Here are some words from a man who I’ve come to respect, read his word and understand the implications. A Special Comment About Lying

    Osaki festival for the disabled

The wife and I went to a small festival in Tokyo for the disabled as I’m in a wheelchair now I sort of fit in. We saw crafts made by the disabled and Grandmothers singing for everyone entertainment (they sounded like talented karaoke) but who doesn’t like a grandmother singing to them. We went for a purpose that we got info for and that was more then the alcoholic beverages we found and drank (mmmm … nihoncho, a Japanese rice wine). I put together a short video if your interested to see, there are problems with it but I’m getting better with using my Canon IXY (or powershot in the rest of the world) to record video. I just need more practice putting it together on my PC. Take a look and bare with me until I put to together my feature length movie.
