From the desk of my Bro

Come party on our 161-foot yacht for a late-night Halloween Bash on The Hudson River. We’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy live bands on our Liberty deck, dance the night away with DJ Max Mayfield, DJ Ralphie C, and also DJ Disco Dave on our Atlantic deck. Relax on the Riverview deck with DJ Victrola or mingle while enjoying the Manhattan skyline from our Moon deck. The party begins at Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken, NJ, at midnight (easily accessible by ferry from NYC). Costumes are recommended, but not required (we’ll be giving away prizes to the best, most original costumes). As an added bonus, book before October 15th and receive a special early bird rate of $55 per person. Space is extremely limited, and these cruises typically sell-out quickly, so don’t wait too long to be part of the Halloween Party of the Year!

Coming out of the closet

Don’t tell anyone my dirty secret but I have Multiple Sclerosis. Don’t get crazy over the wording of that last statement, it’s a bit of a joke. I live with a disease not well understood by the general population or by the medical community. Even moreso here in Japan where it affects 1 in 10,000 (I may be wrong in that statistic, please correct me).

Hi everyone. Today I decided to disclose something that I find personal. I take my privacy seriously but I will tell just you the secret, you must promrise to keep it to yourself. I am living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I was diagnosed way back in 1997 and I have been expiriencing a slow steady decrease in my motor functions. These include a gait in my walk where I need a cane to help me get around, a bit of double vision lately that may or may not go away, some numbness and tingling in my left hand, and a giant horn growing from my forehead. I don’t really mind the horn so much (great at dinner parties) but the rest of the stuff really sucks. It is much worse in the summer and with my luck this has been the hottest summer in Tokyo for many years, eh whatareyougonnado?

I try to be physically active as my love of diving will attest to this fact. Diving is the anti-excersice really. The more work you do the worse the dive (use too much air). I love it but I have run into ignorance like having a dive master ask me after seeing my cane, “What are you gonna do with that?? The correct answer is of course, “Leave it in the boat.? Other things not so annoying but bothersome just the same. I’ll try to post those things here and open up the forums for communication of the topic.

New Site and New Tan

Almost a year to the day since this incarnation of my spot on the web went live and it looks much more professional then any of my other attempts at a web presence. Not to say it’s pleasing to the eye but it looks like a professional might have done it, cool.

Well Mako and I have returned from our trip to Bali and you can see some of the results on my Pictures page. Check under the Indonesia and Signapore links for many pictures, good and bad.

Also in the week back I set up a proper Weblog. In the next few weeks I’ll set up the page to use more of the functionality afforded by this great software package to make maintenance easy and simple. I’m using Movable Type to do the backend work. I’m almost out of excuses to avoid updating this log, looks like I’m going to have to be more creative in making up reasons not to write anything here 8^).
